Tata Power Renewable Begins Construction of ₹5,350 Crore 800 MW Clean Energy Project in Andhra Pradesh

Amaravati: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has commenced construction of a major 800 MW renewable energy project in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of ₹5,350 crore. The project marks a significant milestone in strengthening the state's clean energy infrastructure and supporting India's renewable energy goals.

The project includes a 400 MW wind power facility at Kanekallu in Ananthapuram district and a 400 MW solar power plant at Pattikonda in Kurnool district. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Andhra Pradesh Government, Tata Power, and Suzlon.

Under the project, TPREL will develop the renewable energy assets, while Suzlon will execute the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) work for the 400 MW wind project.

The project also includes a 200 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) facility for NTPC integrated with a 25 MW/50 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), enhancing grid reliability and ensuring stable renewable power supply.

TPREL has secured 800 MW of Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) connectivity through the Ananthapuram II and Kurnool-4 CTUIL substations, enabling efficient transmission of electricity through the national grid.

The project is expected to generate annual lease income for landowners and create nearly 4,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities during construction and operations. It is also expected to strengthen Andhra Pradesh's position as a leading renewable energy investment destination in India.
